Motorola RAZR2 V9x: Modernizing the Original

Motorola RAZR2 V9xUpgraded version features increased touch ability on external display

While it looks like the game-changing Motorola RAZR and smells like the original, too, the Motorola RAZR2 V9x can be thought of as a slightly modernized version of its brethren.

After the initial Motorola RAZR revolutionized the cell phone world in much the same way the iPhone 3G later did as well, subsequent iterations of the RAZR haven’t produced nearly the same hunger as the pack leader.

That said, the pricey Motorola RAZR2 V9x does step up to the all-popular “touch” plate – well, sort of.

One of its standout features is a larger, external display with increased touch abilities. There’s no touch screen, though, when the cell phone is flipped open.

Its stainless-steel structure is slimmer than the original RAZR and its battery packs an impressive punch. The touch-sensitive external display on the Motorola RAZR2 V9x is similiar to that on the Motorola Rapture VU30.

Price

Speaking of being impressive, the price of the Motorola RAZR2 V9x from AT&T Wireless isn’t.

Starting at a whopping $349.99 and coming down to $199.99 with a two-year service contract, the lowest it’ll go is $149.99 with an AT&T mail-in rebate.

Battery

Motorola doesn’t disappoint in the RAZR2 V9x battery department. You’re entitled to a very generous 6 hours of rated talk time and up to 12.5 days of rated standby time when you’re not using the handset.

Size, Weight

The RAZR2 V9x measures in at 4.05 inches by 2.08 inches by 0.52 of an inch and weighs in at a rather heavy 4.41 ounces.

Differentiation in the Marketplace

The primary differentiation of the Motorola RAZR2 V9x is its continuation of the previously popular Motorola RAZR look and feel. Some have grown tired of that revolution and others still latch onto it.

In terms of this handset’s advantage over previous versions, that’d be its touch-sensitive external display, dual speakers and generous battery.
